Mining Jobs for Indigenous Australians

The mining industry actively opens its arms to indigenous Australians. Why?

Firstly, mining companies are very aware of their cultural obligation to give back to local native title holders and develop healthy relationships with indigenous communities – and there is no better way than offering gainful employment which provides families with an improved lifestyle and future.

Secondly, mining companies are not deterred by challenges in skills or experience. They have well-established and professionally organised training programs to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders develop a fulfilling career within the mining sector.  This could include assistance in reading, writing and mathematical skills to qualified on-site roles such as truck driving, drilling and blasting or even pathways to university.

Once you have received basic training, there is no limit to the career development opportunities – from apprenticeships and trade training as electricians, plumbers, boilermakers and carpenters to a Certificate IV in Mining or Civil Construction – even university education.
