Privacy Policy

1.    In this Privacy Policy:

1.1.    we, our or us means Mineral Resources and Heavy Engineering Skills Centre Inc trading as Resources and Engineering Skills Alliance Inc (ABN 136 955 985 272) and any officer, employee, contractor or agent of the same.

1.2.    Personal Information means any of the following:

1.2.1.    information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database) whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can be reasonably ascertained, from the information or opinion; and

1.2.2.    information or an opinion about an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of a profession or trade association, membership of a trade union, sexual preferences or practices, criminal record or health information about the individual (Sensitive Information).

2.    Personal Information Privacy Commitment

2.1.    We understand the importance of protecting and ensuring the confidentiality of Personal Information provided to us.

2.2.    We reserve the right to change the terms of our Privacy Policy from time to time and we will take reasonable steps to notify you if this occurs.

3.    Collection of Personal Information

3.1.    We may collect Personal Information about you such as your name, address, telephone numbers, email address, qualifications and employment history as necessary to perform our functions. We will only collect Sensitive Information from you with your consent or as required or allowed by law.

3.2.    Whenever we collect Personal Information about you, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are aware of the following:

3.2.1.    how to contact us;

3.2.2.    your ability to gain access to the Personal Information;

3.2.3.    why we are collecting the Personal Information;

3.2.4.    the organisations or types of organisations to which we usually disclose Personal Information;

3.2.5.    if we are required by law to collect that Personal Information; and

3.2.6.    the consequences for you if the Personal Information is not provided.

3.3.    When reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect Personal Information directly from you, or someone authorised by you.

4.    Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

4.1.    We may use and disclose your Personal Information for:

4.1.1.    the primary purposes for which the Personal Information was collected, which may include:

4.1.1.1.    to assess your credentials and qualifications;

4.1.1.2.    to assist you enrolling in suitable training courses or in locating a suitable position and to connect you with potential employers;

4.1.1.3.    to keep you regularly updated on prospective job and training opportunities; and

4.1.1.4.    to manage our relationship with you;

4.1.2.    a secondary purpose when:

4.1.2.1.    the secondary purpose is related to the primary purpose of collection and if the Personal Information is Sensitive Information, the secondary purpose is directly related to the primary purpose of collection; and

4.1.2.2.    you would reasonably expect us to use or disclose the Personal Information for the secondary purpose; or

4.1.2.3.    you have consented to the use or disclosure of the Personal Information for the secondary purpose.

5.    Consent

5.1.    We may disclose Personal Information for the purposes for which it was collected. By submitting any application or résumé to us, you will be deemed to have agreed and consented to us disclosing your Personal Information to prospective employers for their consideration.

6.    Quality of Personal Information

6.1.    We will take reasonable steps to ensure that the Personal Information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date.

7.    Security of your Personal Information

7.1.    We take all reasonable measures to ensure that your Personal Information is complete and correct.

7.2.    We also take reasonable measures to ensure Personal Information is not misused, lost or disclosed.

8.    Openness

8.1.    On your request, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, generally, what sort of Personal Information we hold about you, for what purposes, and how we collect, hold, use and disclose that Personal Information.

9.    Access and Correction of Personal Information

9.1.    You can ask us to provide you with access to the Personal Information that we hold about you. We will comply with any such request except to the extent that we are lawfully able to refuse such a request.

9.2.    We do not charge for providing such access and we will try to respond to your request within 14 days. All requests about the Personal Information that we hold about you must be made by contacting us via the “Contact Us” section. In the event that we deny you access to your Personal Information that we hold, or refuse to correct the Personal Information about you, we will provide you with written reasons.

9.3.    We will correct any information that is incorrect.
