About the Program

The Austmine Accelerating Women in METS Program offers female STEM students the opportunity of a paid internship at one of Austmine’s world-leading METS (Mining Equipment, Technology and Services) companies as well as providing mentoring, networking opportunities and skills development.

The METS sector has a high demand for a broad range of STEM skills to develop the advanced technologies needed for sustainable mining and a renewable future.

Australia has a world leading METS sector but to continue to grow and disrupt it needs a more diverse workforce and attracting, retaining and progressing females is critical for the future of the sector.

The internship element of the program is designed to provide students on-the-job experience, mentoring and soft skills training for a successful career in the METS sector, through a ten-week paid internship at a world-leading METS company. Participating students also have access to ongoing support through their internship, mentoring and networking coaching opportunities.

The program is funded under the Commonwealth Government’s Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship Program (WISE) Round 4.
