Construction laborers work in every phase of building activity. Construction workers perform tasks involving physical labour at building, highway, and heavy construction projects, tunnel and shaft excavations and demolition sites. They assist tradespeople on building and construction sites by doing a range of manual labouring jobs.
Job Tasks:
- Operate hand and power tools of all types.
- Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations.
- Clean up rubble and debris, and remove asbestos, lead, and other hazardous waste materials.
- Dismantle, transport and pile building materials and equipment in place.
- Conduct basic excavations of trenches for footings using hand tools and jackhammers if required to fragment rock and hard resources.
